When I bought my new Sierra work truck, it had fog light holes with covers. One day I got curious and got underneath and removed the covers to see everything was there to mount the OEM lenses. I found a couple of articles on a few different forums and came across the fact that the relay, fuse, and wiring to dash was already installed from the factory. I researched further into this mess I got myself interested in and found a ACDelco part D J and purchased this from amazon. Amazon didnt put much of a description on this item, just a photo and was a bit nervous but proceeded to buy anyway. It came in within 4 days and sure enough it had the fog light button. It is very simple to install, You just have to remove the plastic trim piece around your current headlight switch by gently prying it out with your fingers or a plastic trim removal tool.

Whitney low-voltage controller, the Fog Lights operate at 9 volts to prolong bulb life. After this conversion, the fog-lights cannot be operated by the console mounted switch.
The fog light switch wire connects to the control terminal, ground the ground terminal (see photo), and connect both fog lights to the power terminal. Finally you have to ground the fog lights. The relay: yellow is ground, red is power to lights, green goes to switch in the cockpit.
I connected my Tech 2 scan tool and checked some basic functions and found that the scan tool could turn on the fog lights. There was a codes stored for a park light malfunction. I checked wiring diagrams and found that there is a control circuit for the fog lights that is powered by an interior park light fuse. I am pointing to it in the picture below. I tried another fuse and it blew as soon as the park lights were turned on.
To make my life easier I installed a fused jumper wire into the fuse box. This allows me to use cheaper fuses or a circuit breaker while testing. My fused jumper wire with a resettable 10 amp circuit breaker installed. In reviewing the wiring diagrams I found that there were quite a few interior park lights powered by this one fuse. I went to several locations and disconnected harnesses to isolate the short.
This vehicle had been stolen and the interior gutted. At least two body shops have been involved in putting this Tahoe back together, so who knows what I will find. There is a plastic nut that holds the cover in place.

How to Wire Fog Lights by K. Lowell Fog lights are a great do-it-yourself add-on for a car or truck. Mount the fog lights as low as possible on the front of the vehicle.

Fog lights to factory switch? | Ford Expedition Forum
Driving Tip of the Moment: Fog Lights are for FOG!! In the mid to late 90s, car manufacturers started placing “fog” lights or “driving” lights on just about every new car. Fog lights can be very useful if designed correctly. But they can also be very dangerous to everyone else if designed poorly.
Wiring up fog lights is not very hard. All you need is some wire cutters/strippers and a drill to make mounting holes for the lights and switch. If you solder the connections they will hold up much better.
Fuse Holder optional Step 1: Open up the cover that way in the back behind the gas and break pedals. Use the wire clothes hanger take it apart and wrap the LED strip electric wires around it so it can push the wire up thought the hole and reach it near the battery. Make sure to leave enough slack on the other end in order to have enough room to work with. Connect the fuse holder to the positive side of the battery by unscrewing the nut on the battery.
Put one of the wires from the fuse holder into a wire connector and put the connector around the bolt like this: Plugged in the fuse holder, use a wire to wire connector and connect the wire that brought up through the firewall hole and connect it to the other end of the fuse holder.

Visit Geno’s Garage for Truck accessories. Several suggestions for people who wish to add fog lights have been posted to the RTML. They are being collected here. The factory Fog lights are made by North American Lighting. If you go and visit your local auto parts house and flip through their Hella catalog, you will come across a lamp that looks surprisingly similar to the OEM fog lights on the Ram.
This is the only Projector style lamp Hella makes. The big difference is that the Hella version uses an H3 bulb. So, you’ll end up with a fog lamp that not only looks like a factory piece, but is actually more powerful. A place like Pep Boys can even install it for you. All that you need from the dealer is the dash switch.
Seems like a nice solution to me. Be sure to check for clearance behind your fog lamps, keep this in mind when you drill your holes.

Mar 18, · I just bought Ford OEM fog lights for my son’s 09 Ranger XL. they fit fine into the bumpers, wires were there for hook up. I placed a relay into the Power Dist. box and it has the correct 15 amp fuse in the block.
The square connection next to it is what the four terminals go into. The other connection is much wider and looks like it is supposed to mount to frame of bike with the plastic piece to keep it in place. That is the one that I can’t find a place to plug it in. I did not receive any instructions. I followed some from online.
The big connector must be 16 pin or more, not 6, right? Something doesn’t seem to be matching up on the wiring diagram.
